UCLan Cyprus and the Cyprus Football Coaches Association Join Forces to Advance Football and Sports Education

UCLan Cyprus and the Cyprus Football Coaches Association (CFCA) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing UCLan Cyprus as the Official Academic Partner of the CFCA. The Memorandum was signed by Ms Litsa Louka, Chief Operating Officer of UCLan Cyprus, and Mr Michalis Sergiou, President of the CFCA. During the MoU signing the Rector of UCLan Cyprus, Prof. Irene Policarpou, the Head of Business Department, Margarita Stefanou, and the Deputy Head of Marketing, Theodora Tsolaki, were also present.

The strategic collaboration brings together Higher Education and the football community in Cyprus, with a shared focus on education, professional development, academic expertise and opportunities that strengthen the connection between learning and professional practice. Through the partnership, the two organisations will work together on initiatives that support coaches, students and the wider football community.

The collaboration will also provide opportunities for CFCA members, affiliates and their families to benefit from scholarships offered by UCLan Cyprus. UCLan Cyprus will also participate as Academic Partner in CFCA initiatives, including its monthly coaching awards recognising coaches working with youth and other football teams.

Commenting on the collaboration, Ms Litsa Louka, Chief Operating Officer of UCLan Cyprus, said:

“At UCLan Cyprus, we strongly believe in connecting academic knowledge with professional practice. Through our collaboration with the Cyprus Football Coaches Association, we aim to support the development of the football coaching community, while creating valuable learning and professional opportunities for both organisations. This partnership reflects our broader commitment to engaging with the community and using education as a means of supporting professional development and positive impact.”

Mr Michael Sergiou, President of the Cyprus Football Coaches Association, commented:

“Our collaboration with UCLan Cyprus creates an important bridge between football coaching and Higher Education. Through this partnership, we aim to provide our members with further opportunities for education, training and professional development, while working together on initiatives that can contribute to the continued development of football and the coaching profession in Cyprus.”
